Un millier de manifestants anti-nucléaire japonais se sont rassemblés ce vendredi devant les bureaux du Premier ministre à Tokyo pour protester contre le redémarrage prévu de plusieurs réacteurs, près de quinze mois après la catastrophe de Fukushima.
«Nous nous opposons aux redémarrages», a déclaré la foule qui s’est réunie dans le calme, scandant des slogans au son des tambours. L’accident du 11 mars 2011 a provoqué la mise à l’arrêt de tous les réacteurs nucléaires japonais, au nombre de 54, pour des opérations de maintenance ou de vérification.
Le Premier ministre Yoshihiko Noda a souligné mercredi la nécessité de redémarrer les réacteurs jugés sûrs afin d’éviter des pénuries d’électricité lors du pic de consommation estivale. Un groupe de gouverneurs régionaux, longtemps réticents à accepter la remise en service de deux réacteurs à Ohi, dans l’ouest du Japon, ont laissé entendre qu’ils donneraient leur accord.
L’énergie nucléaire représentait 30% de la production d’électricité au Japon avant Fukushima.
